Important Fixes
This release of VMware Fusion addresses the following issues:
Fusion 11.5.5 addresses a privilege escalation vulnerability in the service opener. Attackers with normal user privileges can exploit this issue to escalate their privileges to root on a system where Fusion is installed. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project has assigned the identifier CVE-2020-3957 to this issue. See VMSA-2020-0011 for more information.

Resolved Issues
- Tracert doesn't work in a virtual machine when it is connected to a NAT network
In a virtual machine that is connected to a NAT network, the tracert command fails to trace any website and displays the Request timed out message.
This issue is now resolved.
- VMware Fusion 11.5.5 deployed by the Apple Remote Desktop fails to power on any virtual machine
After using the Apple Remote Desktop to deploy Fusion 11.5.5, the deployed Fusion can't start any virtual machine.
This issue is now resolved.
VMware Fusion 11.5.5 lets you add the VMware Fusion.zip file in the Deploy VMware Fusion.mpkg/Contents/00Fusion_Deployment_Items folder. This ensure proper deployment of VMware Fusion 11.5.5 by Apple Remote Desktop and enables virtual machines to start properly. - Fusion's Unity menu appears randomly on the desktop when an external monitor is connected and the Automatically hide and show the Dock option is checked.
When you have an external monitor connected and the the Automatically hide and show the Dock option is enabled, the Unity menu appears randomly on the desktop and makes the Unity features unusable.
This issue is now resolved.
Known Issues
- User data in an anonymous volume is lost when the container is stopped
If a host directory is not mounted to an anonymous volume of a container, the user data in the anonymous volume is not persistent after the container is stopped.The vctl CLI automatically creates the volume in the CRXVM's memory for better performance but data is not persistent.
Perform the following steps:
1. Find the anonymous volume instruction (For example: VOLUME /data) in the Dockerfile.
2. Start container with the --volume option and specify a host directory which is mounted on an anonymous volume. For example: vctl run --volume $PWD/data:/data myImage - After installing VMware Fusion 11.5.5 or later, some vctl commands, containers and container images from VMware Fusion Technology Preview 20H1 are not available.
